Tv Show Review: Hemlock Grove
Synopsis: "A teenage girl is brutally murdered, sparking a hunt for her killer. But in a town where everyone hides a secret, will they find the monster among them?"
Experience: I heard about this show through Netflix. They were advertising it on their main menu and basically to me, it sounded too interesting to pass it off. All 13 episodes are available right away, so there's no need to wait in a weekly basis like any other tv shows out there. I would've never thought it would be as gore or show very gore like scenes and well, especially with the sexual scenes as well. I do NOT recommend this show to children under 15 or so, it is rated MA for reasons. I literally cringed in the gore scenes and not many movies and tv shows can do that to me nowadays oddly. So if you enjoy the mystery, horror, sci-fi genres all in one then this one is for you! It reminded me of American Horror Story mixed with The X-Files (yes, I went there), so if that's a better description for you as to what type it is and enjoyed one or the other or both, then do go ahead and check this one out. Once again I do suggest for no children to watch this, for it is MA rated for blood/guts scenes, sexual scenes, and some language. There is no other way to view this show, but only through Netflix so if you do not have access to it in any way.. then you will be missing out on it. There is a novel out there that this show is based on, so if you're a bookworm and rather read it than watch it, then I suggest checking the book out in Amazon. This is its first season, so hopefully it will be returning for more viewing and some characters are recognizable off the bat from other tv shows or movies. As in with Olivia Godfrey from X-Men, Clementine from the remake of Carrie, Lily Taylor of various movies and shows, and Dr Pryce from SVU. Remember now? I bet you do.
