Movie Review: Side Effects

Experience: This one was actually in my must watch list, for the theaters, but unfortunately I wasn't able to see it there. At first glance you think it's something possible in reality, which can be the case, but as you get further and further with this movie the plot seems to twist in the oddest way possible to you. I do not recommend for children to be or see this movie for there are sexual and violence scenes in it. If you are into mystery, suspense, plot twists then this is the movie for you. I'm going to put a small notation on this one- if you are the type of person to get freaked out with certain things that can actually happen in reality, then I don't recommend you seeing this one! Available on Netflix.

Movie Review: Insidious Chapter 2

Synopsis: "INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 2, a terrifying sequel to the acclaimed horror film, which follows the haunted Lambert family as they seek to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world." -Google.

Experience: This was definitely on my must watch list. If you enjoyed the first movie of it, then you will enjoy this one as well. In a sense you must watch the first movie in order to understand this one, so catch up by watching the first before going to see this one. Without giving away, some parts start to make sense in this one and other scenes they open up with more questions, but quickly are answered in this same movie. It's almost a puzzle movie, with of course mystery, backtrack, and of course horror.

Movie Review: The Conjuring

Synopsis:  "Based on a true story, the film tells the horrifying tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives." --Google.

Experience: This one too was on my "Must watch" list. At first it does start off slow, but it does need to explain how everything began and the history of the investigators, since it was based on a true story. There is text in the beginning, end, and throughout the movie, but only for explanation so you must pay attention to those details. There were moments that it did alarm me and made my heart race and not many scary movies, of this nature, do that to me too often. The scary part of it all is that it is based on a true story, so just seeing it and well thinking it can happen does put an alarming feeling with such events to be more cautious. Even if you don't believe in such actions, this one might put you in between. The plot does go into place in every step into understanding why it happens in the first place. If you're into such movies, like these, then I do recommend it for you. If you're the believer type, but afraid of such events happening in reality.. then I really don't recommend it for you. I don't think children under 13 or so should watch it.

Movie Review: The Heat

Experience: This one was also on my "Must Watch" list. Let's just say, the previews do not do it justice. If you really want to laugh your head off in a movie every 5 minutes, then I suggest to go see this one ASAP. From beginning to end, literally, it has you laughing and not leaving you hanging. No, this movie is not a comedy act, it does have a plot line/story that sticks rather well with it all. Sandra Bullock acting as an uptight FBI agent is just her role, but learns to loosen up and well, Melissa McCarthy you just knew she was going to be the one to loosen Bullock's character up no matter what. What a great duo and a must to have a second movie with them together again soon, I hope. Literally, if you're into comedy movies and smart quirky put downs and the alike, then this is the movie for you!

Movie Review: Pacific Rim

Synopsis:  "When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity's resources for years on end. Experience: This was on my "Must watch" list. I'm a big fan of Guillermo del Toro films and so this was a must watch. Basically it is action packed as its shown to be, there is some drama and also romance, but those don't dominate the whole movie, the action does. Mainly, you have two groups fighting each other and they need to find a solution to stop the wars. The action almost wants you to be part of this group, the Jaegers. Some of the monsters look like the creatures from his other movie, Pan's Labyrinth, if you look closely. All in all, if you enjoy action packed movies with robots and well Godzilla like creatures, then this is the movie for you! Or if you're just a fan of the director, Guillermo del Toro, then I still suggest going to see it.. whatever your reason is. I really liked how none of the other genre dominated the whole movie. They were known, but not consuming much time.

Movie Review: Epic!

Experience: I missed like 5-10 minutes of the beginning of the movie, so I wasn't able to see that part of it. This movie was in my "Must see" list and it was a very suitable movie to watch on Father's Day. Basically the girl has no relationship with her dad and well it grows during the movie. This movie has action, adventure, some romance, and of course comedy. Every genre was in the right place and at the right time and how the animation and effects were in it were amazing! The story line itself was remarkable and how the director/writer imagination literally goes outside the box. It is a great movie to watch with your children and well.. in general. This movie, according to Wikipedia, is based on a William Joyce's children's book The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs. If you're a bookworm or like reading the book version first, then it is a must read.

Movie Review: After Earth

Experience: This was one of the movies on my "must see" list. It's a courageous, adventurous, and thrilling movie. It has of course action, drama, eye catching moments you think you got yourself into as well. It is a bit slow in the beginning, but it builds up in time. The beginning is explanation to what happened to Earth and the reason the movie came to be. Its sad to hear that it didn't do well in the box office, but you can do so much. I saw it as Avatar and Wall-E combined, but frankly I never saw Avatar and what I heard about it.. comes pretty close to it. It's scary to see how the Earth will be, if we don't take care of it the right way and I'm sure it's way out there, but what happened in the movie, could possibly happen in reality.. especially with the environment/atmosphere basically. If you life sci-fi, action, some drama, and adventure in your movie as genres then this movie is for you! A good famous line was said in this movie by Will Smith's character, "Fear is not real. It is a product of thoughts you create. Do not misunderstand me. Danger is very real. But fear is a choice". He did go on with this quote a bit more in the movie and I wish there was a way for me to have written it down, 'cause it goes deep and really makes you not have fear with anything. "There's nothing to fear, but fear itself."

Movie Review: Greystone Park

Synopsis:  "The haunting tale of an abandoned asylum and 3 film making friends explore the asylum whether or not they believe in ghosts. Legend has it that anyone who ventures into the hospital will go mad".

Experience: My sister heard about it through Darkness Radio station and available in Netflix/Dvd. What it is about is what it is about, with a twist of a famous director Oliver Stone's son, Sean Stone, taking the lead in directing. You get to know about the place right away and it's background and then the adventure begins. I was drawn to it for the first half of it and understanding it, but it got confusing as it went on. Sadly, by the end of it all I was totally confused. The horror genre and feel is there, but it lacked explanation with the story line and some scenes shown. Filmed as a documentary format, but yet some scenes didn't fit in. If you're up for a confusing scare or like scary documentary movies then this one is for you. Better luck next time Sean Stone!

Movie Review: The Forgotten

Synopsis: "Reeling from the loss of her 8 year old son, a woman seeks help from a therapist - who claims the boy was merely a figment of her imagination".

Experience: Another tear jerk-er for sure. It is a bit confusing to begin with and wondering what's going on as well, which is part of movies I love the most. If you're confused or just have the same reactions/feelings as the character(s), then you're hooked and the movie will be a great one. The story builds up and starts to be put together. The bond that is put to the test is a strong one and honestly the most interesting miracle known to man. It's an action adventure with mystery and sci-fi all in one. If you like those genre's mixed in one, this one is for you. This one was seen through Netflix.

Movie Review: MAMA

Synopsis:  "Annabel and Lucas are faced with the challenge of raising his young nieces that were left alone in the forest for 5 years.... but how alone were they?" --IMDb.

Experience: This was one of the must see movies in my list! I couldn't resist watching it because it is obviously by Guillermo Del Toro. I love his movies, so it was a must. The movie itself was at times creepy, but it did catch your attention. The whole movie gave me the feeling of a Silent Hill type and that is great in my view. You get a mystery, horror, supernatural and suspense type of movie all wrapped in one. If you like any of those genres or just the fact that Guillermo Del Toro produced it, then this is the movie for you! There are some sad parts in the movie, so be warned with those.

Movie review: Sinister

Synopsis:
                "A true crime novelist discovers a box of mysterious, disturbing home movies that plunge his family into a nightmarish experience."

Well, the first try in seeing this movie was a bomb. I did wanted to see it, it's on my must see list, but the weather got to the theater and shut off their electricity! Oddly enough another friend of mine in California got to see it and the power there went off too. We only stepped in front of the doors and well, got told to turn around since there was no power. So, we decided to try it again today and wha-laa! Anyways, the story goes a bit slow and talkative in the beginning, yet that's a good sign to most movies. It gradually built up from time to time and I found myself grabbed onto it as well. If you love mystery mixed with horror/suspense movies or genres, then this is the movie for you. There is no gore scenes shown directly, only the blurred out version of it will be. I was drawn to it, as in I caught myself asking some of the same questions the main character had during his investigations. Some scenes were jumpy, but you collected yourself quickly from them. The whole plot was growing in every minute and many questions were brought up as well. Ethan Hawke played his father and novelist role very well to the point in it all being realistic and making it all seem like the movie was based on true events, but we all know its not. So if you like Paranormal Activity and Insidious, then like I said...this is the movie for you! 5 out of 5 is my rate for this movie! Unexpected ending or endings, great acting, great growing suspense, some good comedy...yes you heard right and if you need more convincing... check out this article I found about this movie on E! online. But bewared with that link... SPOILER ALERTS!! Thanks and enjoy!

Weather

Lordy Lordy, I can officially say or start off with this topic in a good note!! Well, this whole week, starting off during this past weekend, we hit great numbers!! From 50s during the past weekend, to now..today...a world record for us!! We hit 80 degrees today out and the rest of the week into the weekend it seems we'll be staying in the upper or lower 70s.....FINALLY!!! We will be getting rain, but the weather after it won't be a big deal or problem, since it will stay in the 70s. Today, my family had a BBQ or just grilled outside, which ever term you prefer, and it was deeeelishious!! Anyways, its been a great week weather wise so far and it seems it will continue. I'm just happy that it seems to settle around those digits and hopefully it will stay that way.

Ooh baby, baby!!

So some little update on my sisters baby, she is doing fine and the baby is also fine!! She got another ultrasound this week and all looks well. She will be continuing getting ultrasounds for I believe 4 plus more weeks or so, just to see if everything is well. Due date? around October or November it seems and let's hope it stays that way!! Will keep this updated and you guys posted on all!!

Movie:

"Silent House"

So, my parents and I went to see this movie on its opening night. It caught my attention and well read the reviews on it being good, so you know...I just hope its better than "The Woman in Black". So it's basically a girl going through memories, with her getting scared and being utterly confused with what's going on in the house. This was filmed in a one shot deal, according to the directors and reviews and all and of course you can tell right away that it was straight in the beginning of it. If you get queasy due to lot of camera move-age, this is not the movie for you! Sure, it seems like it was a good trick to do with the cameras in order to make it seem and feel more scary, but alas...it wasn't that necessary. The new comer Elizabeth Olsen, is the younger sister to the Olsen twins, yeah...you know where they're from and if you don't, ever heard of "Full House"?. Back to her, her acting was good...mediocre, but childish or just plain ole funny to me. Every time she cried, many a people laughed, not just me. At the end of the movie, one person asked my dad, "Hey did you get it?", dad just shook his head and they went on with their remarks about it in needing to see it again to understand it. I understood it, I guess some people aren't just that bright in the crayon box. Ironically, there was a situation during the movie that happened in the theater. 2 women were escorted out by 4 AMC employee's, for what? I will never know. Between that mishap and the movie, the mishap was more interesting lol! Sure it interrupted a part of my movie, but yeeah 2 ladies being escorted out? really a big wow there. Anyways, I rate this movie a good or 3 1/2 stars if that's your liking on rating. Scary parts are mainly noises and sudden appearances of people or so. Small lesson in it, but of course I won't give that away!!

Other life and whatnots...

Been thinking since its soo nice out, to start or learn to drive again. Sadly, I chicken out in the last minute of asking dad or letting the idea out of my head, literally, so it doesn't happen. Been wanting to bike ride as well, but sometimes family just doesn't go out early enough, while sun is out, for us to really enjoy it either. Anyways, got 2 more ideas for laptop covers and I'm still continuing on the "Puss in Boots" one. Seriously, if anyone wants one, just tell me what you want and size of your laptop top/screen and I'll give you an estimate on the price!! Hm, I will soon enough sell off my PSP games and PSP bookbag to either Half price books or Disc Replay and compare which will give me more money cause, I need it now. Anyways, planning on going on a trip in April to see Eric and hopefully it will happen. Also been thinking of going to Job Corps here, but my age is the issue there, sooo it sucks. OH and finally, I have paid off one of my school loans in complete!!! Finally, no more issues with them. We'll see what happens from here with loose ends and all.

Sadly I still have a buyer hanging with a game and bookbag and I feel bad for it. I have tried as best as I can to find someone to accompany me for the exchanges and well, no one has been able to. I can't rely on my parents or dad mainly, he makes his own plans and tells me late in them or doesn't tell me them at all. I don't want to do it alone, in case something happens during exchange either. Either way, these items are still up for grabs if anyone is interested in them.

Movie:

"The Woman in Black"

So yeah, I saw this movie recently because the previews for it caught my attention. It has a good plot to it, but sadly its slow in the beginning of it and when it comes down to the scary parts, they're slow too. Sure slowness is known to build suspense, but I don't think it should take that long or just something about the actor Daniel Radcliffe just doesn't know how to act during scary parts, therefore not right for scary movies. I don't think he'll be a good actor for any other type of movie, but only for movies like Harry Potter sadly. He's known for them and forever shall be and be good in acting in those type of genre movies. All in all, good plot, sad ending, and its just an average movie. Guess 1 to 2 "stars" in my part for judging/rating.

Dvd:

"Puss-in-Boots"

So I decided to go to Walmart to get a copy of "Puss-in-boots" on dvd. To my surprise, they had a good deal going on with it. The $25 deal consists of: Blu-ray dvd, Dvd, digital copy, extra movie called "The Three Diablos" (aka The Three Devils) and a Ty beanie baby toy of Puss-in-Boots all in one box. There were other deals. If you don't want a Blu-Ray version of it, there are 2 regular dvd's of the movie and extra movie and the toy for $19 OR if you don't want the toy and just the movies alone they are $15-$20 each depending on dvd or Blu-ray. I rather go with the whole bundle, since you're practically getting everything for $5 each. So go to your Walmart and purchase your own bundle of choice!! The movie in general is cute and very funny. Practically shows the background story of him and how he came to be known as Puss-in-Boots, so it's worth to watch and buy!! I haven't seen the other movie they're advertising, due to it being in blu-ray form and me not having a blu-ray player yet, but I will find out a way to see it.

Weather

The weather.....*sighs* its been crazy, literally. 40s to 50s, then drop totally down to 20s or 30s and add winds that are 30-40mph and well cold as well. It's all it has been going on here with that here. I just wish hopefully soon, around the end of March and into April we will get 50s and maybe low 60s weather around. I would like to go to the cons without holding a big jack or wear a thick heavy jacket as well. Hopefully March is like that for us and it will stay like that for once.

Painting and whatnot

 I've been wanting to get back into painting. I got, I believe, one more canvas or at least two that are blank and I want to use. I think I know which picture to do, but I do need help with a projector I believe. Projectors are expensive, so I digged into making my own, thanks to good ole google, I found some I might be able to make. I need to test it out somehow and make it work. Here are some examples I found around: here and here. Hopefully one of these work and I'll get the help I need from them.

"The People Under the Stairs"

I have oddly seen this movie before, I think I was around 12-14 years old when I saw it for the first time. At first I was like, "what a ridiculous movie!" and well that was the end of it. I believe a grammar school friend of mine came over to my parents house and brought it with her OR I went to her birthday party and saw it there. Anyways, I have seen it like 4 times total as of recently. Today, oddly enough, it was on BET channel and well I talked myself into seeing it. Nothing else was good on and it doesn't hurt to see it again or at all. It seemed to me like a low budge film at first glance and well wondering now if it was a book first then made into a movie or was it just an idea spilled out there and well, it was made. Basically its a kid from the ghetto who's family is getting evicted from their home and well, need money in order to pay what needs to get paid. Friends of his decide to rob people and oddly enough these people are not ordinary and do carry cash or old coins. As the story progresses, the guys get caught in the home and well have sudden deaths, the kid is the only survivor. He realizes that strange things happen in the house, along with a little girl living there under...strange circumstances. If interested in reading more of it, you can check it out here. Surprised its directed by Wes Craven, but it makes total sense now....why its different and well weird. If you like thriller, old school movies, twisted plots and somewhat happy endings to all of that, this is your movie to watch!!

Tv movie:

"Bag of Bones"

So the ending to it was today on A&E channel. A repetition of part 1 was before the conclusion and well a repetition of both parts followed afterwards. I really liked how it ended, he gained what he lost in the beginning of it...its how I see it. Sadly for him to go through every event he went through, but in a really good way he did...as like clues. He had dreams or daydreams of what happened in the town he was staying to write a story for his company. Plot twist is involving his wife with it and then twisting it to his past and well another lady from the past. He wondered why his wife was so interested in this lady and well, she found out how she was tied to her husband. He of course in the end of it all, knew why he was having those dreams and how it tied it to him. I don't want to give out anything if you didn't see it, but let's just say there's a curse involved within the whole story, but it was broken in the end of it all. I really like it and like I said before, stuff like this by Stephen King, makes me want to write again. Yet every time I want to write about a specific topic/event, its been done by him already....I'm sure of it. Hopefully I can find a good topic or so he hasn't done and well, finish it well. Sadly, if you missed seeing this movie I am not sure when they will repeat it on tv, so check your local listings for that!!

The Oddities

Well, I won't go into lots of detail here with the title of this blog post, but I will try to explain it as best and simple as I can without heavy details. There are some oddities with the recent situation that has happened in my end of my work career. Too many confusion and well blame, in a sense, but I won't go there since it shouldn't even be there. Some people would like it to be investigated, but I rather not waste time and money on that and just collect my money. I did leave a letter/note to a co-worker there, sealed, and hopefully he will receive it and hopefully it wasn't a bad idea to do so, now that I think about it. Other than that, I know who to blame if something occurs there with that note/letter and it won't be pretty...trust me. It already isn't pretty in my mind, oddities and confusing as I said. Anyways, today was my official last day to say goodbyes and well, pick up some of the stuff I left there that I forgot about on Friday.

"Puss in Boots"

So I recently, as in Sunday, I saw the movie "Puss in Boots". It was very funny and great way to show his life and how he got the name, Puss in Boots. I won't go much into detail, spoilers, but I do recommend seeing it. If you like to laugh, like 3D movies, and well like the series in which where this kitty came into, aka Shrek, then go ahead and watch it. I really hope there is more like this coming out in the future.

                                           Happy meal toy and...mini fries?!?!

But alas, I got into this movie so much that I wanted to get a Happy Meal from McDonalds, since they were giving away Puss in Boots toys in their Happy Meals. This round I got Puss when he was a baby (i.e. picture above) and this toy, as soon as you push a button in the back of it, his eyes get bigger as in this picture:

I'm so glad I was able to get the meal and well this toy. What fascinated me about the meal wasn't the toy, but the size of the container for the fries. It is as big as the actual toy and it made me laugh, then thought it was very cute. Oddly enough, the meal came with sliced apples as well, in which I thought they were an option of a side instead of fries, but both came in the meal. Now my goal is to get more of those toys from the Happy Meals and well, hopefully find a big stuffed toy of him with the boots and hat included...that will be a nice toy to give to myself recently, lol...plus my Kindle Fire, XD. So I will show my collection, once there are more than 1 or 2 in it lol.

Darn you sore!!

Don't you hate it when you are sick and get sores in one way or another? What if you were never sick, like with a fever or a cold? I got myself a bad canker/cold sore right on the side of my tongue. The worse part is where its located it at, right by it meets your teeth when you talk and eat. No matter what you say or do/eat, it will bother you. I really hope it goes away soon, since I can't do much about it.

Weather, bah!!

Short and sweet, it will constantly rain here from Monday night until Wednesday evening I presume. Lighting will come into play sometime tomorrow morning until the afternoon and well, possibly the night. It seems this rain is stretched out all the way south, into Texas. We might get hit with some flurries/snow possibly Wednesday evening, if not sometime Thursday and well....it won't last long. I know Texas has been in dire need of rain and well, my boyfriend even misses it at times lol, so enjoy it while it lasts Texans/southerners!!
